Star Monsters

Star Monsters
Elite spawns with one, two or three stars: tougher fights, better rewards.
Elite versions of every creature
Star Monsters are stronger versions of the regular creatures. When a creature spawns there is a small chance that it appears with one, two or three stars in its name. They glow, so you can spot one from a distance — and they hit much harder than the creature you are used to. The more stars, the tougher the fight and the better the reward.
Bosses, raid creatures and creatures summoned by players or by other monsters never become Star Monsters.
Rewards
- More experience. A Star Monster is worth much more than the normal creature.
- More loot. Every non-gold item in the creature's loot has a better chance of dropping, and they carry more gold. No drop ever becomes guaranteed.
- Attributed equipment. Eligible items can drop already attributed, and the more stars, the more likely the item is to carry attributes.
- Attribution Fragments. Only Star Monsters drop fragments, the raw material of Attribution Runes. Three stars always drop some.
Bestiary and charms
- Killing a Star Monster counts as more than one kill in the normal Bestiary of that creature.
- Each creature also has a separate star progression that starts counting once its normal Bestiary is complete. Finishing it lets you attach a charm to that star entry; it gives no charm points.
- The Gut charm raises the extra loot chance of the Star Monster it is attached to.
Leaving a Star Monster alone
Once a Star Monster has been damaged, it disappears if nobody damages it for 15 minutes, and its spawn comes back as a normal creature. Every hit restarts the timer, so you cannot park one and come back later.
